S60 software not compatible?

Hi all,

I was under the impression that Symbian S60 software should work with my N95. However certain progs which I've tried to install have given me the notice on the phone that they are not supported. Does that mean that I can only instal S60 3rd edition stuff?

TIA

Which is not the best planning... for symbian not to be backwards compatible. I mean, I get it that symbian doesn't really work that way- but... it is a pain because there are many, many good programs that I used all the time on my 3560 and 6682, but won't work on s60v3 now. It's taking a long time for some publishers to get out new versions. Some are just dead in the water like the IR tv remote program. Two years and they haven't finished yet.

Sorry... I get pissy about 3rd party software sometimes. I miss my old programs, and I hate waiting for updates that might never happen.

But WArdy's right... s60 version 3 aka symbian OS 9.1 software only.

It's to do with the security patching they did.

Apps could control too much of the phone without a user knowing it was happening. Symbian addressed this, but many authors have been either lazy in recoding their apps, or unable to do so due to the new restrictions.

Yes it is a shame, but I'd rather not see a normal screen whilst my phone's calling some premium numbers and making some scammer rich!

Thanks, so it looks like I'll not be able to use my Stowaway IR keyboard because the only drivers available are S60 compatible.

I'm sure the manufacturer will have S60v3 driver by now ;)
