No.

There are some symbian and java apps which work with other phones but they only turn on the red video recording light on the N95.

Let's hope there's some light at the end of this tunnel... Pardon the pun.

I've tested at least 5 of the flashlight softwares but ALL of them just turn on the red light. Hope there is a work around.

I suspect there is a good reason the flash light does not stay on for very long.

Maybe it is just for battery saving reasons but it is possible the lamp will burn out with extended use.

It's an LED. Should last for a LONG time. There are tons of LED flashlights on the market, battery life is significantly better than conventional flashlights with comparable output.

I can't imagine it's due to battery life, otherwise we'd not have a GPS, 5mpix camera, wifi... etc. These are third party applications too- they don't care about the battery life of an N95.

That being said, I hope we see something soon. I imagine we will- but I imagined that it wouldn't take psiloc two years to update the ir remote program either...

...this was the reason you couldn't use the flash as a light on my old K800i, that was a 'proper' xenon flash. Mind the one on the n95 comes fairly close so maybe it is a heat issue.

Here's hoping. I miss that feature so much. It's strange, when you dont have it you realise how much you use it and love it!

Well, this probably isn't what you want, but there used to be a somewhat silly program on handango called Flashlight or something similar.. I think it just set all your screen pixels to white...

xenon flash and LED flash are completely different. Furthermore, as far as I know, xenon flashes also incorporate a capacitor in order to build up charge and rapidly release it.... thus, it would've been impossible to use it as a flashlight anyway... strobe light maybe...
