Trading N95 8GB for 5800 XpressMusic ??
I had my n95 8gb for an about 4 months now and i should say it the best mobile phone i used in my life ,but now the major feature in n95 and few other phones is the 5 mp camera (other features are found in many phones) ,and since i am interested in watching videos and listening to music more than capturing pictures i think of trading my used n95 for a new 5800 to get use of the larger screen and better voice and a 3.2 mp camera is not bad too (it also has wifi and gps as n95 and i need both of them), so do you think i should go for it or it would be a bad move ,and please do not tell me to wait for n97 as i can not afford it in the mean time ,any help or comment would be appreciated, sorry for being long,TIA

the N95 is a top all-rounder and the 5800 does just about everything that the N95 can with the added bonus that the larger screen is very nice for watching videos.
however, the 5800 camera leaves a lot to be desired, the build quality could be better and the latest v20 firmware is starting to throw up some bugs. if you can live with being a bit of a pioneer/guinea pig then the 5800 is a great touch screen phone for beginners or the more frugal amongst us. make a list of your main wants/needs then translate this into pro's and cons for both phones and then it's decision time. but whatever you decide, the N95 Users Forum will be here to support you.

As you stated, you'd rather movie watching over pics.
That being said, the N95's 5MP camera wont be of much use to you in that regard. The 5800's screen is large and has a decent resolution for movie watching. The 3.2Mp camera is not that good. Don't think N73 had a 3.2MP camera and they are in the same league. The 5800 is well below that! The 5800 also has a few niggles, but i for one seem not to be affected by these bugs that are being complained about....tbh i dont even know what they are.....havent encountered any...... I would say go for the 5800 as youre more into movie watching. granted that you dont mind whatever niggles others complain about with the 5800. |

I gave up my N95 for my 5800 and have no regrets at all......Like you I wanted to be able to watch movies and listen to music more than I wanted to take pictures, so for me the decision was easy.
Yes the camera is not the best by any means but Im only looking at any pics I take on my phone so the quality is good enough for that...as to the firmware, im still using v11 as I can play flash games full screen and there are loads of these free on the net. I would say to you to go have a play with one if poss before you make up your mind, there is nothing like playing with a phone to get a feel for it to know if it is for you or not.. |

Thanks everybody for your help and advice ,from all your comments i understand that 5800 camera is its major down point ,well i can not remeber the last time i used my 5 mp camera but certainly i remember my movies and net surfing on the n95 screen so the decision here is easy but i heared that 5800 has some problems with its internal speaker and that it is generally much slower than n95(fastest mobile i ever used),so is this true or what TIA

the 5800 earpiece does have some issues:
All Early 5800 XM's have defective ear speakers it has been acknowledged by Nokia and action has been taken to ensure new 5800's do not have this issue. even the 5800's with this problem can be repaired by an NCP. and i can't say that my 5800 is slower than my N95. maybe it is but i just don't notice it.

To be honest the 5800 is way faster than N95-2 as longas you do not have screen transitions switched on !
I think the N85 is just a little quicker than the 5800 though |
