- First of all the camera,it should be faster and give a picture quality as or higher than n82 which is an inferior mopile and solve the ****en video recording problem which stop every few seconds
- also user data preservation as n96 - overair firmware update - the new music player in n96 i hear it is very good - faster GPS(do not know how but they should do !!) - something i am really missing from my 6681, the ability to make folders in the images gallery - general improvement and speed up of the phone hope this is enough for you Last edited by Bokloz; 05-09-2009 at 05:26 AM. |

The N82 is far from an inferior phone, particularly camera wise.
I've never had any problems whatsoever recording video and playing it back on my N95-1. In fact I used it at a mates wedding and he loves the results I burnt it to DVD for him. User data preservation will never happen, I'm not sure it could be done with a firmware update anyway. GPS is fine: locks within ten seconds of opening Maps and/or GPS from within tools. Folders in the gallery you can make except the piccys are shown in gallery from them by default (annoying I know). I find the phone adequatley fast, even when running multiple applications. I would expect an N95-2 to be faster than an N95-1 as it has twice as much RAM. I don't think we'll see a new firmware for a N95-1, N95-2 or an N95-4, poor N95-3 owners are still waiting for their phones version of V31. What you have to remember about the N95 is that it's ancient now. It was far ahead of anything else when it was first released and will still be an OK phone if released today, that's why it is, and always will be an icon of mobile phone development . It cannot be supported by Nokia forever it would be like Microsoft still giving updates for Windows '95. |

the camera opens in about 3 seconds which is good for a cameraphone.
folders in the gallery is called "albums" and you can create them. gps locks in about 10 seconds but i find this depends on location. an area with lots of buildings seem to take about one minute to lock (unless its your last position in which it locks within 10 seconds) sound quality i really cant comment here as i didnt use an n96 long enough to give a viable answer. but what i can say is that nokia havent made lots of improvements in the music division thus sound quality shouldnt be that much of a difference...... were you using the same headset when you tested both devices? the n96 also has more ram and uses feature pack 2 thus it should be a bit quicker than the n95....this is expected....the n95 is 2 years old now....yet it is not as slow as you make it out to be...... i agree that UDP should have been included in the n95 by now..... i dont think youll see another fw update for this device and i would be quite surprized if that happened..... |

As an N95-4 user, I have sadly come to accept that there will be no more updates for the N95 anymore. Even sadder for me is the fact that I have made the decision to move away from Nokia phones, after over 15 years of using Nokia phones and loving them. The love however is now lost :(
My reason you ask? Nokia taking for granted and overlooking its NAM market. I got the N95-4 a little over an year ago and since then have patiently waited for the feature list to match the N95-2, firmwares are always a step or two ahead for the european models of the SAME phone! Even currently, the European firmware of N95 has ASR while NAM doesn't, why? The users in the NAM region probably paid more for their phones(at least is US) because they were not packaged with any carrier yet we get neglected. Admittedly it is an awesome phone, it has tons of capabilities that I have yet to see any other brand of phone deliver but when it comes down to basic functionality, it is full of bugs that even after 2 years of it being in the market are yet to be taken care of(or who knows maybe they are only in the NAM versions :-s). If Nokia doesn't get its stuff straight, the same fate will befall the newer models, if Nokia is going to keep on neglecting its NAM market and forget its older models for newer models then its no longer worth it. |

Firmware V31 was briefly released for N95-4 (it has ASR), then pulled by Nokia, presumably to iron out some bugs, therefore I would expect to see a general release pretty soon. They've already spent the time and effort to make it, so don't see any point in them not releasing it.
