    N95 8gb Problem

    Hi all

I have a N95 8gb, locked on orange UK, but debranded to generic firmware, v30 (or maybe 31 cant check at the mo) i know there is a newer version but im happy with this as its very stable and dont want to upgrade.

Right the problem i have seems to be common, my screen goes black, sometimes i can slide the phone up and down a few times and it comes back on, sometimes it just comes back on its own aswell, however i think its finally given up as its been black for 3 days now, ive given up and am now using a 6300!

the warranty from nokia is 2 years so i could get it repaired for free, however i dont want them updating my firmware, and as ive debranded it anyway it might have voided the warranty, also i have a few programmes on my phone that are not strickly legit.

Is there an easy fix for this maybe a cable has come loose inside? if not ive seen on Ebay new screens plus tools for about £15, i already have the right screwdrivers (t5 & t6) but not a screen opener, is that the only way to get the screen off?

    Thanks

If I were you i'd get the tools and open it up! Ive changed the whole fascia side of it and at first it seems a bit much but give it time you suss it. An LCD screen replacement MAY be the way forward. Replacing this is VERY easy. This can be done but just removing the front cover and nothing else. All it is, is a screen with ribbon that attachs to another ribbon. Its easy to seperate the two.

I doubt it any repair guy could fix it without an update but if you dont want to open it up yourself im sure one of those guys in your local market could fix it without an update!
