Buying in Europe

I will be travelling to Europe from US in a few weeks and was going to use some Euro I have there to buy myself a new toy.

Are there any logistical problems with buying the N95 in Europe and bringing it back to the States (warranty, compatibility etc.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

Glad you asked, I have a similar situation. I was planning on buying mine in Asia on an upcoming vacation (I live in the US). A phone store near my home suggested I buy from them so I'd be covered for warranty by Nokia USA, much easier if I have any warranty issues. I bought from him, but found out he actually sold me a Hong Kong phone. I haven't had any problems with it, but emailed Nokia USA to ask a technical question. They responded, telling me that I have an Asian phone and that they won't even discuss it with me, I have to call Hong Kong. I then called them to find out exactly where I stand and learned that Nokia USA won't even do non-warranty repairs on my phone in the future, if I need anything I'll have to send it overseas.
My advice: buy it off NokiaUSA.com, it's $749.00 and you're covered by warranty locally.

I don't know about warranty and such, but take in account that it will probably be more expensive in Europe...

Like hatrabbit says, warranty will be a problem. Search on this forum for a good cheap US supplier. I think there's a 'where I bought my N95' thread somewhere. The cheapest N95 SIM Free in the UK is about 400 quid, 800 US and Europe is usually a bit more expensive - they don't seem to have the same discount houses the UK do.

Thanks to all,

I searched on Nokia's N95 site and followed links to the warranty which specifically states that only phones bought from US are covered under warranty.

I guess I will just exchange my Euro (since the exchange rate to dollars is just AWESOME right now) and buy it when I get back. I guess I will have to buy my wife a present now.

better off getting it in the US coz there's a lot of complaints on this phone and it'll be easier for you... trust me, nokia sent my replacement back after 6 weeks... how much more if you had to send it overseas.
