Unlocking my n95 8GB at a shop(is it safe)?

I went into a mobile phone shop in town and he will unlock my phone for £10 which i thought was great and he said it will only take him 5mins.
Said something about plugging this little black thing into the phone?

I just want to be sure it wont ruin my phone? and will i need to backup contacts etc?

Nope its fine mate hes using a JAF box if you feel unsure backup the phone using nokia content backup

Oh right, yeah probably the same. He pulled out a box of leads each with a small white sticky label on, i suppose different ones for each model of phone or something.


EDIT does anyone know how a jaf box works? is it just like a piece of electronics that changes or adds files to the software to unlock it?(google didnt help me lol)
