Transferring N95 contacts, calendar, data etc to smartphone

Hello all,

I'm looking into (finally...) changing my faithful Nokia N95 to a smartphone. (Not sure which model of smartphone, but not an iPhone!)

I'd like to transfer everything to my new device, whatever that might be, and was wondering if anyone has any experience of how/if this can work? Is it a reasonably straight-forward process? Keeping the calendar details are very, very important...

This gives me an excuse to fire up my old trusty N95 and have a play. I suspect the best way of getting all you need to a new phone is to sync with something like outlook, then sync it with your new phone. Just contacts is straightforward, copy all your contacts to your SIM and pop it in your new phone, and then copy all SIM contacts to it.
