What do you hate about your phone?
What I hate about my phone at the moment is it's short battery life! have you guys noticed that on nokia phones where in it is at lets say 4 bars remaining batt life and when you'll turn it off and then turn it on again the bar would drop 1 bar or sometimes even 2 bars! i have noticed this on all my nokia phones that I have owned..
anyway, post here what you hate about your phone... |

There's nothing I HATE about my phone. The battery life is an issue, but it's not the end of the world and a small price to pay for having such a cutting edge piece of equipment that is pocket-able and doesn't weigh a tonne.
One of the few genuinely annoying things is the lack of memory (RAM). You wouldn't expect Windows XP to run well on a pc with 256MB of RAM,but this is precisely what Nokia did with the N95. It is probably the only really stupid thing about this phone, and really limits it's multi-tasking abilities: I shouldn't have to close applications, just to run the camera or music player.

The memory and the battery life are a bit annoying. However, they're in no way deal breakers.

The battery life is acceptable to me. I drain batteries like Dean Martin would drain a bottle of gin with whatever mobile device I have. The Proporta has helped me out a great deal with that.
The RAM though- I do very much dislike that. I'm glad that Nokia is releasing devices with more memory now, but I'm disappointed to the fullest extent that the flagship device doesn't have more RAM. Still- it's the greatest cellular device I've ever encountered.

But yes, I hate the RAM too, the other thing is that the Memory card covering plate thing fell off mine and I lost it somewhere =[ |

The N95 itself is a great phone, not perfect but a great phone nonetheless... My bugbear with it isn't the phone itself, it's the **** stupid, paranoid, Operating System... It's locked-down tighter than a ducks u-no-wot... and that's water-tight!

No phone is perfect for everyone. I love my N95, but for me, personally, there are a couple of things that I would change if I could redesign the phone, just for myself.
1. The location of the earpiece. In order to hear well, I have to place the earpiece speaker directly over the center of my ear (duh) but the way it's shaped, it makes it rather uncomfortable for me. What seems more natural for me is to have the corner of the phone snug into my ear, but if I do that, the speaker is too far away and I cannot hear anything. I've had a little bit of trouble getting used to holding the phone flat against my ear to have the speaker right over the center. Another way to solve this would be to just make the speaker be a lot louder, but at max volume, I really need to push hard against my ear. Maybe I just have bad hearing :) 2. Hissing noise when using wired headphones. Some people say stereo BT headphones do not carry such noise, but I have expensive (wired) noise-cancelling headphones that I'm not willing to get rid of. I wanted the phone to replace all of my mobile devices, but unfortunately it looks like it can't replace my iPod. 3. GPS antenna is a bit weak, making it impractical to use in my specific situation. I'm sure other people find it great for their uses, but often I find it faster to scroll to my position on the map rather than have to wait for a GPS lock and zoom automatically. It usually takes several minutes to get a lock, even when I'm outside on a clear day and I had just gotten a lock about a half hour before. Usually I use the map to find places near me (restaurants, train stations, etc), and not really for navigation. 4. The 4 multimedia buttons are nice, but I wish they were useful for other things as well and not just exclusive to the media player. 5. I wish the standby screen were more customizable. One particular thing (among others) for me would be to show more than just one to-do item. 6. The camera is a little bit slow (but there's probably nothing much that can be done about that until the mobile processor/memory technology improves). 7. It seems the phone can't be charged over USB (can it? if so, how?). This would be really great for me, as carrying one less cable is always nice. |
