Lightbulb Limit on the amount of external memory?

Hi,

Is there a limit to the amount of external memory. Can you go higher than 2G?

The N95 supports Micro SDHC so yes you can go higher than 2GB. At the moment I think only 4GB Micro SDHC cards are available, but soon 8GB cards will be available. The Micro SDHC cards have a maximum possible memory of 32GB!

Are you sure it's 32GB for the micro SDHC cards? I know it's 32 for the SDHC format- but a micro sd card is pretty tiny. Isn't it basically a couple microsd cards on an SD card that gives it the capacity- as in, doesn't it take a 16GB SD card capacity to be able to create a smaller 8GB micro card? If we can get a 32GB micro sdhc card, shouldn't we be able to get a 64GB SDHC card?

Still... if we top out at 16 gigs- not bad!

I'm currently using a 6gb card and it works fine. I'm nowhere near filling this thing up. I've yet to get my hands on a 8gb card, but I'm sure it'll work fine as well. And to answer your next question... no you can't buy a 6gb card anywhere.

It's out of stock because it hasn't been released yet. That shop is advertising to get people hyped about them selling it eventually. No people, it isn't for sale on the market yet.

I know this thread is a year old but I'd like to update it. At the time it was ongoing there was a 32Gb Micro SDHC in development. It's now been out for a short time. Because it's so new it's still very expensive. (The least expensive one I've seen is over $250.00 and Panasonic was asking over $600.) I have no idea whether or not our N95 8Gb or any of the other N95s will be compatible with this card but I do know it is with the new Blackberry Bold 9000. That's the only SmartPhone I know of which is completely compatible. (There certainly could be others.)
