Any more firmware updaes in the future...

Now that Nokia has introduced a new Nokia N95 model I'm wondering to myself if there will be furthur updates on our current N95's beyond version 12??? Seems like they turned their attention to the 8Gig model. On a side note wondering if updates to the 8Gig or US model with more memory etc would apply to our current model?

It has been said that the software on the 8GB model will not be compatible. This is coming from the N95 8GB project manager.

Good question though- are we going to get shafted on firmware updates now? Will they be delayed? Will they be non-existant??

We need more updates? I'd be a bit shocked if they hadn't got it right after two major ones.

LOL... a fair point, sir. Of course, we're talking about improvements and additional features as well as bigs and software fixes when we speak of firmware updates.

I don't really agree that Nokia has been "a$s @&^#$!!"- but I do hope that we'll continue to see firmware updates.

As soon as they sort the keypress bug I'll be happy and they can divert their attention to any other models they like.

But not before!!!

There are at least two reasons why I believe there will be more firmware updates:

1) The latest Maps application is newer than the version included with the most current firmware. A firmware update including the latest Maps application is likely.

2) The Podcasting development team plans to include a bookmarking feature, which is the most requested extension of functionality. This only works with an update of the music player application via firmware.

I'm not so sure that the existance of a newer version of Maps than the one found on the current firmware will really lead us to a new firmware- but you make a very sound argument regarding the Podcasting app...

The new music player app appears to be around the corner:
Nokia Podcasting

I hope it's marked for a N95 release.

I've just emailed Nokia asking them to map the media keys as gaming buttons, develop a better battery for the N95-1 as well as release a firmware that makes use of the RAM smarter. I got a reply saying that the care centre guy has forwarded my ideas to the Nokia Development Centre. Lets just hope he's not lying
