C ya Guys its been fun

Gone to WM6 after Nokia sorting out most of the N95 original problems and re badging it as an N95 8gb.... Not a happy Nokia customer. Sold my N95 and got the kaiser II , will not be going S60 again now. Have fun boys with all the new releases as they come up.

Great Forum and I will pop in from time to time..

I'd never say never. I'm willing to bet S60 and linux will be in your future.

I know how wardy feels to be fair, BUT WM don't have anything to rival the quality of the camera the N95 boasts so if image quality is important, we have no choice at the moment but to stick with Symbian.

That coupled with the audio quality and the N95 is still a clear winner IMO ... for now at least!

My take... I can also understand how Wardy feels...

For Nokia to bring out the next step up in the slider/candybar 'N' series after the N95 has been on the market only 7 months would be bad enough, to start selling an improved version of the N95 after the same time-period would be galling... But to sell a repaired and corrected version of the current N95 is downright insulting and shows scant regard for all who bought the N95-1 and quickly discovered its two main faults... Poor battery-life and insufficient RAM... Paying a considerable amount to beta-test the N95-1 and thereby enabling Nokia to perfect a product and effectively re-issue it, is something that I shall be extremely wary of being duped into doing in future!

The only consolation is that the earlier model I have, has protection for the camera and an expansion slot, both lacking in the N95-2.

As Spyda hints... If and when WM produces a handset that matches the capabilities of the N-95, I too may be returning from whence I came... Although I have to admit that I consider such WM advances to be unlikely in the near future.

Not only have N95-1 users been unwitting beta-testers, so it would appear, have N800-users, as an improved version has just been announced... If Nokia intend to continue this trend, many purchasers of their top-end devices will begin to realise that 'Nokia isn't for life (of the contract), it's for six months max!'... before it's replaced by a modified, fault-corrected, better-performing and specced version of virtually the same device!

Nokia... Your attitude towards the users of your flagship products STINKS!

nothing major - the only thing i miss about WM6.0 is the easy syncing to microsoft exchange server. it's a bit more complex with the n series (e series worked fine with the different security modules - n series doesn't seem to support the MS Exchange security modules that my work implemented). oh and the QWERTY keyboard would have been a bonus - one thing i miss about my old i-mate jasjam

    EXACTLY ! Well said !

And where does that leave the Classic N95 user? If I were a software developer I wouldn't spend too much time on beta model compatibility after the fixed version came out.

Hmmm...honestly...I'm mixed about this. While I must admit I agree with how you feel, generally Nokia made the smart business move to do. This was the first version with Feature Pack 1. I do not know if you guys are into cars, but would you be upset if you bought lets say and Mitsubishi Evo 9 and then six months later the 10 came out? EVERY company strives to make a device better. The Nokia N95 was better than anything else that came out in its time, would you agree? Perhaps why you bought it?! And then we found things we did not like, posted them like we do here, and Nokia not only listened, but improved it?! FINALLY!!! Newer models come out all the time and I'm sure if Nokia came out with a N96 with a slightly newer design, we wouldn't feel as bad.

My opinion: Nokia does make quality products that I'll happily buy however...I'm just wondering how they missed things, especially the low ram, if they're testing it?! You cannot keep producing products and increasing their processors and application sophistication without uping ram, so shame on Nokia for missing this. However, at least Nokia is listening to the end user and doing something about it. As for battery life, I'm sure they worried it would be even thicker, so gave into form over function. Thanks RAZR. First we harp on our women being super thin and now phones. What's next?! (Hey baby...didn't you know thin was in with manhood?! lol) There's several people I know that lust after my N95, so...I'll sell to them and upgrade! However, it would be nice if Nokia offered a trade in deal.

Spidernet21... My point is that the N95-1 wasn't replaced with a new phone, fresh to the market...

It wasn't replaced with an improved, better-performing version, the next step up...

    It was repaired and re-issued!!!

i'd be happy if nokia is willing to provide us with an option, to 'upgrade' our current N95-1 users's RAM for a small fee..

Spook: well said! I've said a similar rant in so many words before. I'm not totally bummes that I've had the device for 5 months or so and would be willing to pay for it in a reduced "trade in", as spidernet mentioned. Even a paltry $250 USD towards the purchase of the N95-3 or 8gb version would be a nice gesture on Nokia's part

There's about as much chance of that happening my friend, as there is of Pseudo becoming an Apple Fan-Boy!

fldude99... What really rankles with me is that the N-95 was released with two glaring faults, RAM & Battery Life... Why?... When it was plainly obvious that these two factors would be so detrimental to its performance?

The early beta-testers (not the mugs who bought it), even raised this when they first laid hands on it... How did Nokia miss it?

The answer of course is that they didn't miss it at all... but it was evidently deemed 'good enough' to sell, I suspect that someone was of the opinion that, "The fools will buy it, it's a Nokia flagship model"... And they were right!

Improved, better-performing version, the next step up is a nice way for saying repaired and reissued. lol. Regardless...I think they should continue to get our opinions and every time they upgrade the processor, they should increase ram, in my opinion. They could just give them to me to test. If there's a problem, people like us will find them. Not to rant, but exactly why I didn't trust the iPhone. I mean I refuse to believe people like Steve Jobs should make user end decisions other than ease of use. I use my N95 more than my PC and I expect this "multimedia computer" to do just as well, with some obvious limitations.

I find this analogy lacking.. the Evolution IX has been out since 2005 and it's been on the market ever since. Rumors of the Evolution X has been circling around for at least a year so even people late to buying the car knew what they were getting into.

Anyhow Nokia has left a sour taste in my mouth.. I've been waiting for the N95-1 ever since October of 2006 and I bought it right when it came out.. so basically I waited 6 months for the phone and 6 months AFTER I purchase the phone a NEW and IMPROVED model came out... I wouldn't be upset had they released the N82 at this time; but to release a UPGRADED version of the phone I bought is rather disappointing.

In general "early adopters" tend to get shat on by electronics manufacturers, and mobile phones are no different to this.

We go out of our way to support the products that are advertised, foolishly believing that each product will do exactly what has been promised. And every time we end up paying a higher price, both financially and in terms of sheer frustration at buggy, underpowered products that have faults that could not possibly have been missed during the testing phase.

It's rubbish, and I hate it.

I'll still be picking up the N82 within weeks of it's release though, I'm sure...

Somebody has to work the bugs out of the devices. lol. Fact of life, but hey...the wireless industry has been doing this for years and will continue to do so since it is a fast paced industry. Oh well...

Wow , just popped back . Still got the Tytn 11 . cant say I have missed the N95 as for me I can do with the Tytn as I did with the N95. Some aspects are better . I love the Keyboard and the camera is pretty good and i only set the N95 to 3mb as i never print very large pictures any way.. Didn't think the thread would attracked as much attention as it has .

Someone did say that i will probably be back and yea you are probably right but at the moment its Win Mobile .

I'm guessing that 2008 will bring the touch interface . I love this on the tytn and if Nokia perfect it and undoubtably they will then i will defo be back . be it more cautious on early adoption this time.
