My take... I can also understand how Wardy feels...
For Nokia to bring out the next step up in the slider/candybar 'N' series after the
N95 has been on the market only 7 months would be bad enough, to start selling an improved version of the
N95 after the same time-period would be galling... But to sell a
repaired and corrected version of the current
N95 is downright insulting and shows scant regard for all who bought the
N95-1 and quickly discovered its two main faults... Poor battery-life and insufficient RAM... Paying a considerable amount to beta-test the
N95-1 and thereby
enabling Nokia to perfect a product and effectively re-issue it, is something that I shall be extremely wary of being duped into doing in future!
The only consolation is that the earlier model I have, has protection for the camera and an expansion slot, both lacking in the
N95-2.
As Spyda hints... If and when WM produces a handset that matches the capabilities of the N-95, I too may be returning from whence I came... Although I have to admit that I consider such WM advances to be unlikely in the near future.
Not only have
N95-1 users been unwitting beta-testers, so it would appear, have N800-users, as an improved version has just been announced... If Nokia intend to continue this trend, many purchasers of their top-end devices will begin to realise that
'Nokia isn't for life (of the contract), it's for six months max!'... before it's replaced by a modified, fault-corrected, better-performing and specced version of virtually the same device!
Nokia... Your attitude towards the users of your flagship products STINKS!
