Buy from Ebay, Unlock and Rebrand to 3 UK?

Hi,

I was just wondering, if I bought an N95 on ebay, am I able to unlock it (if it's locked to another network) and install a firmware for 3 UK so just it's as if I got the phone from them, or are they locked so you can only put updates from the same network on them?

Thanks

Ian

Apparently the N95 can now be unlocked, though not easily and I doubt cheaply... BUT... More to the point... Flashing a generic phone to 3UK firmware would have to be done by a Nokia Service Centre... You couldn't do it... And they wouldn't do it... Sorry!

I've no experience of 3UK so I can't even say if an unlocked N95 with generic firmware (not 3's own) will run on it...

I'm glad to see that unlocking has dropped in price... But flashing to 3UK firmware may still be a problem!

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

I'll stick to a 3 branded version then!

Thanks

Ian
