My previous phone had no manual shutter, and I spent forever cleaning the **** lense. I work in a dirty and dusty environment and a lense cover was actually one of the things that swung an N95 for me, I very much doubt I would have got one if it had no cover.

I think I've cleaned it once, when it was unknowingly open when I had it in my pocket - apart from that, never. The lens cover has been an absolute necessity!

Have you ever seen another digital camera that doesn't have a lens cover? I don't think so!

Anyone seriously interested in photography knows the importance of keeping the lens clean. With the N95 8GB that is almost impossible. Wake up Nokia.

Whoa Pseudofinn...your camera lens look tragic. I would seriously cry.

I also wish my N95-3 had the shutter protection and miss it dearly. I hate having to unlock it and then press on the button. My lens aren't scratched up though, I left the little plastic it comes with over it and it'll stay there until I receive my Noreve case that protects the camera.

Just for the record, I find it more convenient without the sliding lens cover.

Remember, the new models HAVE a lens cover, but it is clear plastic. I would guess that it's easy and cheap to replace, too.

I've not cleaned it once on my N95 8GB and the pictures come out as good as my N95-1.

[Runs for cover!]

i enjoy the cover as it is great for protecting but also cause it is a much quicker access to the camera. Also if it was removed by 'popular demand' then why didn't they add xenon flash by 'popular demand' :P

I used N7610 for almost 3 yrs. and the lens is still perfectly fine. N95 8gb not having a lens, that's not big a deal for me.

I voted but i dont have any interest in getting the 8GB version at all just now...lets face it, I'm a woman, can you believe I dont care about size? Contrary to popular belief I dont think it matters....

hmmmmm....lol. No but seriously I'm not buying another phone just cause its got a slightly larger screen and memory. I havent got near using up the 1GB memory card!
