N95 web browser image quality

Ever since upgrading to the new N95-1 firmware, jpg and gif images have displayed on my screen quite pixelated. It doesn't matter whether it's full screen JPG or a windowed/framed GIF, it all is pixelated. It's like I must have selected an option to display low-res images in my web browser to save data transfer costs, except for I didn't. This worked great before I upgraded to the new V20 firmware. I have looked in every setting I can image and I can't find a setting for this anywhere. I have installed Opera Mini and the images look great, but I prefer the built in web browser instead. Can somebody tell me what I'm missing?

Kevin

im not sure if there was an option to change the picture quality before, but there sure aren't any now.

but the pictures render fine on mine. i guess they've limited it to prevent the browser from crashes? not that it doesnt crash still..

Could it have something to do with your signal maybe? When I used to use my 3 sim the images were amazing, but when I started using my Orange sim the images were pixelated too.

My Orange internet is awful! It takes FOREVER to load a page, but if I use Opera it doesnt take long at all! (maybe anyone could help me there too?)

maybe the browser detects your connection type and speed, and optimizes it for the best speed/quality?

could you try connecting via wireless to verify?

That's a good point. Please compare the pics in WLAN and GPRS/3G.
Most mobile network operators have transparent proxies to reduce the image size.

I had this issue myself... upgrading the firmware also did it for me!!!
Any connections. 3g or Wifi was the same, very poor picture quaility on web pages.

But unfortunatly... all I can say is that it went away within a few days, before I could really look into the issue. Not much help I know!! Sorry!

Sorry to open an old post but have the same problem here myself. Images are either converted to 2 colours or blacked out. Using OperaMini images are perfect but sadly u cant save images with operamini as it opens the N95's browser to save them.

Using Opera 8.65 images are a better, u can see how they are supposed to look (kinda), but the quality is pretty poor.

Cant get my head around why operamini can display images perfect and other progams wont.

Using my old N70 with same provider the images download perfect. Guess N95 browser is not as good as older Nokia browsers.
