N95 Firmware Update On Orange Is Crap

I've got a locked N95-1 which is with Orange and they are so crap at the firmware process its still saying my one is up to date and the most newest one is 11.0.026.

Does anybody else have his problem?! I can't wait until they approve V20!

If you want to risk debranding your phone, DO IT.

I was about to sell my n95 on ebay (orange, v11 firmware) until i debranded and updated to v20 firmware.

You'll be amazed at the difference, everything is a lot faster and easier to use. More reliable, the camera is basically 4x quicker and every application loads a lot faster.

I have to agree with these guys; Debranding would be the best thing you could do to gain the full potential of this device

Voiding of the warranty is the only down point, but that all depends on how safe you feel you can keep your phone ;)

Yup, another Orange fw updater here.

Best thing you could do with the phone, there's a world of difference.

I'm an Orange user too but somehow it let me update to v12 no problem. But I changed the product code and updated to v20. I cant recommend it enough! Update ur mob. Thing is, chances are, if ur mob does get damaged in the future, theres no saying whether anyone will noticed u've voided the warranty!Just act daft!
If u want ,Check ur product code. note down the product code, do the whole 'changing product code (sounds scary but ul piss urself lafin wen u c how simple it is)and update firmware' then go back change ur product code to the original. i doubt any1 will notice!

Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone, I really appreciate it. I've made my decision - I'm going to debrand it but just got a few questions... what differences have you seen since updatinf your software to V20?! Is the battery life better now?! Is the camera faster noticeably compared to V11?! Is the phone generally quicker/have a lot more free RAM (on N95-1!)?!

Also, how do I just save my contacts, messages and calendar entries on PC suite so I can put them on when I debrand?!

And is this the way to debrand it?! How To: Update Firmware, Debranding, and/or Change Language Pack on the Nokia N95 at the Nokia blog I live in the UK and have a plum N95 so presumably I'd use a euro 1 plum code right?!

Yes, yes and yes - The new firmware makes the phone into a whole new device. It really is great

Go here for the main v20 discussion and have a look at some of the new features

It will give you the options of what you would like to backup when you run the backup application

I believe this was only implimented into the later versions of PC Suite, though; So here is the newest version if you do not already have it installed

Yes, that's the right way to do it - And yes that product code should work fine :D

Good luck!
