N95 - N82 Flash comparison
Alright, maybe this is old news to some, but i found this video on youtube comparing the xenon-flash on N82 to the one in N95.
YouTube - Nokia N82 Xenon Flash versus Nokia N95 On a sidenote, what backcover is that on the N95 in the video? Is it a non-oem black one or is it graphite? |

It certainly shows up the difference between an LED and a Xenon flash, that's quite impressive... BUT! As for camera speed... The N95 he's using is the US model N95-3... Which doesn't (yet) have the latest souped-up firmware.
The N95-1, with the recent firmware update, is equal to the speed of the N82's camera start-up and focus... So while the flash is nowhere near as efficient, the N95 can be every bit as fast! :)

Oh thanks for mentioning the camera speed, sp00k. :P
While we're pissing on me, your device boots about 20-30 seconds faster than mine to. :(

My pleasure!
... It had to be said though, as it was hardly a fair comparison to the proper N95! ;)

That's a good demonstration, though I don't really see a point to it since the N82 is made to be better in dark conditions. The N95 doesn't really have a chance.

I do wonder why the N95 has such a pants flash.
Just took mine on hols for 2 weeks to Gran Canaria. Daytime, with plenty of light. The photo's are amazing, so clear, so convenient to carry the camera in my pocket. Didn't miss a shot. No complaints at all. At night though, the pictures are terrible. Blurred, dark, grainy. Just down to lack of light, just can't understand why the advanced Nokia N95 was built to take a worse picture than my old K750i, in the dark. I'm sure there's a good reason. Shame though. |

He should have set the N95 to Night Portrait mode.
In that mode it doesn't try to auto focus = faster, and also the pictures are brighter. Of course no match for the N82, but if you want to use your N95 at night try the night portrait mode - works much better than Auto mode |
