How to adjust volume for "Message Alert Tone"

I am running v20.0.0.015 (in case that is relevant) and I want to reduce the volume for when a text message arrives. Currently it appears to be at full volume. Now in personalisation > Tones I can set the Ringing volume but even when I set it real low and then go to my 'Message alert tone' and scroll through the options, they all still play really loud!

Is the preview ignoring the volume setting and it will be ok when I get a text message come through (don't get many so long time to wait until one happens to come in) or is there a different volume setting for the message alerts?

I think it is ignoring the volume setting as you wouldn't be able to preview the tones then.

And there is no volume setting for the message alerts on their own,would be nice though wouldn't it?

Yes, don't worry about the preview - The 'Ringing volume' definitely sets the volume for the ringing tone and the message alert tone
