Help Needed to Debrand & Update Pls. (Was:hi) [ARGH!]
I have an n95 black with 8gb and it is locked to UK voda. I have been trying to debrand and update the firmware with no luck. I have managed to change the product code with NSS to two different euro codes but when i come to upgrade it still says 10. something is my latest version. I have read all the threads i can find and to be honest im still confused !!! Is this possible or not?? I am also doing it with an old un registered voda sim as im now on o2, does this make any difference? thanks :)

Anyone with a UK 8GB N95 done this? I could do with some confirmation of the following!
If it's SIM-locked to Voda, neither debranding nor upgrading the firmware will remove the lock. You should be able to debrand it by 're-installing' the firmware, using a EURO code, however... It won't update it as there isn't yet an updated firmware for the 8GB model AFAIK but installing the firmware again, using a EURO code should remove the Voda clutter. Best to wait and make sure from someone who's done it though! ;)

I'll assume you're on the v10 firmware? There was a v11 firmware released not too long ago
You should be able to upgrade fine if you use a generic 8GB EURO product code (E.g. 0549487) |

If your on v10 then its not really worth upgrading to v11 but if you going to upgrade follow http://www.n95users.com/forum/genera...-n95-tips.html

I did follow the tips advice exactly and managed to change the product code twice but each time it would not accept the upgrade, with the software telling me version 10. whatever, is the latest !!

If you've changed the code and it tells you that the latest version is the one that you already have, by ticking an on-screen box in the latest NSU program, you should see the option to RE-install the same version number... Only this time, it won't be a Voda-adapted version... Theoretically! ;)
