Power saver and screen saver

Hi,

I just got my N95 and very much like it. However, I was just wondering, when the power saver is on and the backlight is off, the screen saver is set to clock and date which is fine, but why is it so dark? I can barely see it during the day not to mention in the dark in my room. Also, like previous simple phone, when the screen saver is on, at least there is a button to light up the clock. This function is handy when you are for example in the cinema, as going to the main screen is too bright, and people may feel disturbed.

Thank you for your help

LK

Hi there and welcome to the forums.

It's dark because as you said, the backlight is off. You could argue that's not very useful and I'd have to agree. Your only option is to turn power saver off or adjust the backlight timer. Again, not very useful.

I don't have my N95 right now to test (screen died) but I'm just wondering if there is a key that would light it up as other phones in the past surely have had that feature. But I could be making this up....?

Are you running the latest firmware (V20) ? You can check by pressing *#0000#

That what I have been trying to find out! The simple button to light up the clock when you just want to check what time it is, since it is so dark :)

My ultimate wish for N95 improvements is to make the phone charge the battery when connected to the pc via usb cable..As I often leave my phone connected to the office computer. I think that will greatly compensate for the battery issues of N95...More music, videos, games, web browsing, pictures, texting and calls without charging the phone too often..

If the key pad is locked you can press the top left shortcut button to switch the light on for 1 second then switch off. (i.e do half the keypad unlock process)

As dayene said, try cclock. No backlight still, but it can be easily configured to be visible. I set mine as my powersaver and just increase the font size etc..... and use white text on black.

Easily visible in most conditions.

I do the same thing MadCow does and push the left nav key. Lights up for a second which is really all you need
