    I will be installing:

    TSMobiles (remote desktop)
    Opera Mobile
    MSN Messenger Live
    Divx Player
    Accelerometer toys
    Some Games

    Thanks

I always save to memory card, easier to back up, leaves the phone memory clear for faster use & also incase anything else is saved to the phone by default. (like some downloads) its not like you don't have enough room on 8gb

I put system apps (like handy taskman, flash lite, smartmovie, etc)on the phone memory, and everything else (games, music, etc) on the card

I have removable media in my N95, so I put all applications, ringtones and themes on the actual device's memory. This way I can swap cards and not loose my programs- the themes and ringtones will still be there when you connect PC suite, and you can still use your applications if you connect the USB cable. Works well this way. I hate loosing my apps when I throw the card in my PC to transfer content.

Depends, like Pseudo I like to have some on my phones internal memory so they aren't lost when in data transfer mode. My main theme used to be on the memory card so it went west every time I connected to a PC, very annoying.

It is this simple. If you install to the memory card then you have slower access times. This is why parts are stored in RAM as it speeds up program use. However we all know how small the RAM is and therefore the OS should only copy to RAM what is needed and this will take longer from the memory card.

This is not the only reason to install to the phone, you also have the problem of if you do remove your card then you will lose your applications.

In the end it is down to your personnel preference.

will getting a class 4 or 6 memory card improve speeds? or is the interface between the phone and memory card unable to handle the bandwidth?

The extra speed over a class 2 card is most noticeable when transferring files to/from the card, using a card-reader, in my experience.

If you install something to the memory card that is then used (such as a theme, or Fring, etc) you will not be able to access the Memory Card because it is in use.

I install all apps & themes to phone memory for the above reason and because it seems faster to me.

I've just deleted all my themes and re-installed them in the phone's memory. All the themes with custom icons are noticeably quicker. The phone is much more responsive when navigating the menus.

But the space we're installing to is not RAM is it?

If I could compare to a PC:
Memory available to install to = Hard disk(s)?
Memory for Operating system = DDR RAM?

Are we suggesting that installing stuff to the phone will reduce the memory available to the OS?

I would imagine that if the applications were running, they would indeed decrease the available RAM. But it wouldn't matter if they were run from the card or phone, they would still sit in RAM (?)

Of course, my assumtion is based on the phone working like a PC, which it probably doesn't!

I don't have many apps so i might install them onto the phone memory to see if i get any difference.

    same here..

one concern for some people is having enough phone memory free to stream videos with programs like emtube. if you set emtube to use the memory card, i found that the video skipped and lagged. i have 30mb free and that should be sufficient for any youtube video.
