move messages back to phone memory (from memory card)
Hi all.
I was running extremely low on phone memory, so moved my text messages to memory card, it copied them all over. Now I have 100MB of space back and want to move my messages back to the phone memory. How does one do this ? I can change the store to the phone memory, but it doesnt move the messages along with it Anyone know a way ? PS using the memory card, doing a backup with PC Suite, changing store to phone memory and restoring the messages backed up by PC Suite. Didnt work :-( |

yea. i wish there was a way too. back in the olden days when i was using my N70, backing up smses and mmses was as simple as copying and pasting the mail folder via a file explorer. but now they've tucked the mail folder deep inside the system folder which we dont have access to.
i would understand that symbian is doing this for security reasons, learning from microsoft that giving users administrator access would be risky. but just imagine using windows and you only have user rights. and you're stuck with it -____________-" anyway back to the topic, one way i would suggest is switch to your phone memory and clear all messages. then switch back to the memory card. try backing up the messages using pc suite's content copier. just hope that it copies the current messages in use which is from the memory card. you'd know its successful if the backup file is more than 200kb. then unplug your memory card and try to restore the messages. i havent tried this personally though. |

Yeah, this is the method I mentioned I tried in my "PS" Didnt work. It backs them up fine, but for some reason, it must tag that they came from memory card and will only put them back on the memory card. So if its not inserted, it just spends 5mins doing ..... nothing!!! Surely there must be a way! Memory card is so slow for messages. |

Hmmm I'll try it again. I did try 2 times and the same result.
I might just get a faster 80x MicroSD card. The only downside with using memory card for messages is the speed.. its so slow! But be alot safer. |

I have a suggestion - I only have a few messages on here at the moment, yet the transfer bar was very slow and jumpy. It definitely didn't give a very accurate reading for how the moving process was progressing
If you have alot of messages and the bar seems to get stuck, try leaving it for a few minutes |

the first move from phone to memory card would be ok. but when you switch back from memory card to phone, any new messages will not be copied over. at least this is the case for me even when i had my N70. but on the N70, i could delete the mail folder from C:, enabling messages to be copied over from memory card to phone.
