N95-1 vs N95-3 Battery Life

Hello,

I'm torn between the two and I have a couple of days to decide whether I should buy an n95-1 or n95-3. My decision heavily relies on the battery life of the phone and I am mainly interested in the n95-3, but the missing camera shutter is a big concern for me. So I want to know, how is the battery of n95-1 (after firmware upgrade) compared to n95-3? If the difference is not that big, then I might go for the n95-1 just because of the camera shutter.

Thanks for all your help!

Having upgraded the firmware of my N95-1 from v12 to v20, I have seen an improvement, but it could still be better.

You need to bear in mind that the N95-1 has a 950mAh battery, whereas the N95-3 has a 1200mAh battery.

If battery life is important, I would go with the N95-3.

Hi.I have only had my N95-1 v.12 for three weeks and was concerned with bad reports on battery life.I would say on average i make 30 minutes of calls, loads of texts and mms messages along with camera use and lots of "getting to know way around phone".Up to now i have not had a problem with battery life.I charge it most nights and it gets me through the day.I have seen a picture on this site of a N95-3 with very bad lens scratches, even when user was very careful not to put phone with keys, coins etc.

Cool, thanks for the info guys! Also how many days does your n95-1 last without charging and an average of about 2 hours call a day?

For me, there are so many things that my N95 will do, it hardly ever gets a rest! I don't think I've ever just used it for calls or texts on any day since I've had it.

It works hard for me, so I feed it plenty of regular Volts. You will probably find the same.

If you get over 24 hours after making 2 hours of calls in a day, I would be surprised. I charge every night.

One thing that's not often mentioned is that it only takes about an hour to charge an N95 from flat. Makes life slightly less stressful.

Yes, easily. However, if you are worried about it, get the N95-3 with the bigger battery. In addition to the better battery, the N95-3 now comes with a car charger free.

I would recommend the N95-3 like I have based on the face it has the better battery life like you want, the shutter on the camera does not seem to be a problem if you have a good quality case for it, I have a Roots leather case thats intended for BBs and Palms and it fits almost perfectly and has a swivel belt clip. You are in Canada like me, so Rogers (or the Fido brand) are your only options for service, don't cripple your phone and go with the N95-1 since it doesn't have NA 3G frequencies, get the N95-3 with NA 3G frequencies and get th most out of it.
