Its still being tested as far as I know. Im sure I remember reading somewhere that tests in Berlin are being carried out.
Found this info out from a quick search. Verizon Wireless' 4G Network Plans Nokia complimented the announced plans of Verizon Wireless to develop and deploy a 4G mobile broadband network in the next years, as broadband wireless technologies have the potential to change the way people live, work, communicate and play. The LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology that Verizon wants to rely on will provide scale and efficiency for producers, more choices in devices and network equipment for operators and, last but definitely not least, enhanced value and experience for consumers. Nokia is committed, as global leader in converged devices, to delivering a wide range of handsets to consumers, being at the same time open to innovation as always. The Finnish company is proud to consolidate the collaboration with Verizon Wireless in order to produce devices that enable users to enjoy the advantages of mobility and Internet. "Nokia has long been committed to working closely with operators in the US and around the world, and is very pleased to support Verizon Wireless in their choice of LTE as their global 4G evolution path," said Mark Louison, President, Nokia Inc., the North American arm of Nokia. "It is very exciting to see Verizon Wireless, one of the world's leading wireless providers, announce their open development initiative for devices and their decision to evolve their network to the open, global specification of LTE." "The company’s move toward a 4G network is driven by our vision of pervasive wireless Internet connectivity and mobility," said in a press release Richard Lynch, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Verizon Communications. "Customers want to be truly untethered with advanced communication devices that provide functionality comparable to today’s wired networks – whether it’s downloading or uploading video, gaming, downloading their favorite music, or social networking. They want to be able to communicate in new and innovative ways whenever and wherever they choose around the globe." Nokia foresees that, within the next decade, the demand for high-featured mobile experience and mobile computing will grow continuously. The Long Term Evolution technology will help multimedia services like rich 3D multi-player gaming or simultaneous Instant Messaging to become faster and better, providing an improved mobile experience for consumers all over the world.
