    Got my replacement N95 8gb and I'm P###ed!

Swapped my N95 today for a new one as the first one wouldn't unlock the keys everytime i opened it.

Anyhow just got the new phone out n it dont feel right, for astart it doesnt feel as heavy, the battery cover isn't flush at the back and rather than being smooth all my buttons click!! WTF!! also when i slide it up it feels like its rubbing!!

O2 did say that the phone was coming from different stock than my first one.

Has anyone else experienced any of these things??

I might just be over fussy, but it just feels so different.

    D

I don't think your being fussy. A replacement genrally means you should get back exactly what you give..

    Have a word with them!

haha, david beat me to it. if it's used demand for a new one. though it can be refurbished that wasn't really used so still get another one. these phones didn't come cheap...you should get what you paid for.

That little 'E' you are seeing, simply means you are in an area where EDGE is availible - It's absolutely nothing to worry about and will provide you the same connectivity as before (Although data transfer will be slower if you decide to use packet data transfers at all)

If you want to manually switch back to 3G, go here:
    Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Network -> Network mode -> UMTS

I had a similar problem with a replacement k800i from carphone warehouse on O2.I took it out of box and some keys didn't work!!I found out later that they replace faulty phones with 7 day returns and not a new phone!!I do have a insurance with them and still get a faulty replacement!

If you really find it to be troublesome, go straight back and complain. Ask to compare it to another if they tell you it's working fine

ok, it works fine, BUT it feels as if it has been up together by a blind man (no disrespect intended). All the keys click, so if im in a room watching a film with mates and i get a text, the noise is gonna get on their nerves as well as mine. The slider feels like there is high grade sandpaper rubbing together and the battery cover is showing a lip af about .5 mm.

I love the n95 8gb, but this is shocking.

What does my life timer mean, 20mins on and its still - 000000:05??

The life timer is a bit like a call log.
Never mind the inner operations of the phone - if its physically not how it should be, its faulty !

That life timer is judged by the amount of call time only. It is counted in minutes and only displays the amount of time you have spent talking on the phone

How does everyone else's phone feel? especially the 8gb.

I'll have a word with O2 tomoz and see what they have to say. Bet they try to fob me off, lol, I'm not one to be foobed off easily. This is gonna be fun!

I have an n95-1 and the slider only makes a noise when it er, finishes its sliding business (it clicks into place.)

The battery cover fits perfectly and you can only hear the keys if you were in a completely silent room and even then its not really big.

Go in and just make sure that you sound like you know what you want. Say to them that you are a heavy user of your phone and know exactly how it should function. The new phone you have received is far from your expectations (Point out what is wrong) and state that you want a replacement right away! Challenge them to compare it with another of the same device if they don't take your word for it

I had the same trouble with o2 online over the last couple of weeks regarding the N82.
N82 (1) had a large gap between the housing and front off phone so i sent that back
    N82 (2) Even worse,straight back
    N82 (3) C key was sticking,straight back
N82 (4) Navigation button wouldn't function when pressing to the left.
    N82 (5) Same as number 3

I was then told they was all refurbs, which i was pissed big time about, then i was told that i should've been told they were refurbs which i wasn't.I then got the girl on the phone to promise me that the next one would be brand new
N82 (6) Turned up and it's good as gold..........so,don't take no mate....make sure you get what you should be getting.

This is my (our - she didn't like it so I swapped my w850i for it) 2nd N95 from O2. First one give up in 3 hours. Hopefully this one is good (has been since Oct 2007). My keys also click, but I think it is a positive solid feel to it, admitidly it isn't really loud but it is noticable.

I got a silicon cover on mine and have just felt the slider with it on and with it off. It clicks into place at the end of it's travel which are the magnets to hold it in place. There is no noise when moving it but it does feel 'gritty' so I may get some WD40 on it somehow to try and improve it.

    The Oh-2 Update!!

Well, got on the blower to O2 at 8 oclock this morning! Explained the situation and the advisor seemed decent enough. She said "ok, a replacement will be with u tomoz morning" fine i said, will it be a new handset? it will be a replacement she replied, waht a new one i said? it will be a refurbed she replied. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!! my reply was " i dont think so put me on to your manager!! Please! Told the manager that i was really unhappy and she assured me that it would be a brand new handset, and appologsed for any confusion.

if its not right tomoz, i will send it back and ask them to realease the handset, this basically means that i can keep my tariff but get the fone from a shop rather than delivered. i called the shop and they confirmed this and said that i could handle upto 5 handsets to find the ONE!!!!

I'll let u know how it goes tomoz!
