Recommended podcasts
Following recent discussion about podcasts and, as a result of that, my discovery of how great this technology is, here is a thread for people to name podcasts they like and explain why others might enjoy them too.
I'll start off by naming the BBC's "From Our Own Correspondent" which is a podcast of their Radio 4 programme of the same name. I think anyone who is interested in people, world events and the diversity but shared humanity of different cultures would both enjoy this and learn something from it. It's the BBC at its best. Get it here: From Our Own Correspondent Then there's the Guardian's (The Guardian is a UK newspaper) book podcast. Recent episodes have included Hanif Kureishi talking about his book "The Buddha Of Suburbia" and Richard Dawkins debating fact versus belief and science versus religion. Get it here: Books from the Guardian Finally, how about a classic poem delivered to your N95 every day? (read by a British presenter who is ok but perhaps not as good as the very best I've heard). Recent poets have included Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Emily Dickinson, Lord Tennyson, Oscar Wilde and Walt Whitman. Get it here: Classic Poetry Aloud Last edited by john_g; 02-18-2008 at 09:53 PM. |
