Default Phone Specific Firmware

I've always wondered if Nokia had a 'list' anywhere available stating which handsets have which firmware, and if so how far it dated back.
Just always been curious i guess.

Sorry- I guess I overlooked this thread somehow!

There's a pretty comprehensive looking search facility at http://hunajatehdas.net/nokia/firmware/index_en.php

It goes back to 1996 and is current with the latest information on the N81 and N95- though the N82 is not listed, and I cannot find any variants of the N95, only the RM-159 N95-1 is listed. It does have also seem to have the entire firmware history for each device as well.

Series 60 models (S60) are just one of the Nokia series based on the Symbian OS. S80 and S90 are also based on this OS (Devices such as the 9300 and 7710), though there were also earlier series that had nothing to do with Symbian (S30, S40 etc.) which were not intended as 'smart phones' and provided much more basic features. Multitasking was not offered in these platforms and 3rd party development was restricted to Java midelts that could barely access/interact with any native functions of the device. This actually made them very fast and user friendly though, and consequently became a very popular platform for many of Nokias early devices.

Thanks for all your help guys.
I'm also wondering, not that its important, what type of OS runs on old Nokia handsets. For instance lets say a 7270.

Yep. Now we're out of my reach. We're talking a device released in the late nineties, and discontinued in 2001.

I do know that this was one of the first devices to feature snake though.
