Default Telco's Stealing Accessories

Does anybody know the reason for the telco's taking accessories out of the box before selling phones?
I got my N95 from Optus Aust. via the mail and my box was still plastic wrap sealed, so i had everything in the box that should have been.
BUT many of my friend that got their N95s from a store didn't even know it should've come with the leather/plastic case and with av chord.
I've heard that stores do this 'theiving', but why?

Hmmmm... Nokia does not plastic wrap boxes, at least I've never seen one- and I've opened about 9 fresh Nokia boxes in the last few months and countless others over the past decade or so. There is a piece of tape that can only be cut- but they do not wrap the boxes. This would have been something done by the carrier. There is NO reason that a carrier should be opening a box that I am aware of. Taking accessories out of the box is not acceptable. Telcos can request that equipment packaged for sale on their network does not have certain things such as memory cards and cases to save on costs for the telco of the sales package... but the AV cable- zero reason that should not be with the device. This limits the operation of the device and is completely different from a memory card or case not included in the sales package.

This needs to be reported- if someone is looting Nokia boxes, they should be taken out into the streets and dealt with harshly.

I guess it must've been wrapped as proof of not tampering.
But as you say mem card and/or case removed to save money on package.....The package is custom made to fit these items in the box.

Thanks for your reply pseudo.

Yes, but for no reason should the A/V cable be removed.

The plastic wrap- as this is not done by Nokia, it would serve as proof that who hasn't tampered with it....?

The courier company i guess. I'm going to ring my local optus shop to see if they have had any turn up in a plastic wrap. Would region make a difference as to how it is packed/wrapped?
I am in the Asia Pacific/Australia region.

I've had APAC region devices before. Never seen anything from Nokia in plastic wrap...
