Default Sound has disappeared. Vibration remains.

Nokia 3120 is my mobile phone. When I set the alarm clock feature or am receiving calls it vibrates, but the sound has disappeared. The sound IS enabled for receiving calls. What is gone wrong and how can I fix it myself? I am in Africa and cannot take it to the dealer. Am good with soldering iron, but hopefully it might be something more simple

Did you get it wet or dropped your phone recently? If you've checked and your phne isnt in silent mode it's most probably a hardware failure. i suggest you take it back to a NSC whenever you can

What did you used to have as a ringtone prior to the sound disappearing?
Is it possible that you had a song as your ringtone and have deleted it without remembering that it was your ringtone?

Have it working now. The speaker has two contacts which rub along two plates on the electronic board (printed circuit) of the phone. If the connections are good the phone works. And I have repaired the connections. However it seems to me to be to be inferior technology: depending on two wires (albeit firm) touching a printed circuit. Someone suggested that the vibration mode (which I have switched on) eventually disturbs these contacts and to me this makes sense. It is poor design on the part of Nokia. The phone speaker is working, but for how long?
