Default Another No Available Connection Problem

I’m having a problem connecting my Nokia 6102i to my desktop PC; I’m using Ver 7 of the Nokia PC Suite; I’m using Windows XP (Home Edition) on my desktop, and have ALL the Windows Updates installed; I’m using a CA-42 cable. I have a laptop as well with the same OS, and everything works just fine.

When I connect to my PC, I get two screens on my cellphone in quick succession; the first one states “data enhancement connected” and the next states “enhancement not supported”. And sure enough, when I use the connection wizard for the Nokia PC Suite and click on the little window that pops up when I first launch PC Suite (the one that reads “click here to connect a phone”), and Connection Wizard launches, I get the message “there is no available connection type and therefore connection to the phone cannot be established”.

I’ve removed (via Control Panel) the program several times (to include the cable driver entry), and did a complete reinstall (with warm reboots in between), and without the cable connected during the program install. I also cleaned the Registry with two registry cleaners after the uninstalls (the Nokia Clean Tool doesn’t work). I also tried Device Manager and scanning for plug & plays gear (with the cable connected), and no luck (on my laptop the phone shows up as a “Portable Device” entry).

So, what do I do now????

Hi there, it sounds like you have tried everything I would (although the registry clean is probably clutching at straws).

Here is the download URL for the Nokia CA-42 (amongst others)

Nokia Europe - Cable Drivers - Support

I would also check any resident firewalls/antivirus programs are turned off for the install.

I would also check permissions on the Nokia install folder, this is normally C:\Program Files\Nokia\Connectivity Cable Driver

Good luck

Default Thank You & Question

Hi Gadget1st. Thanks for the help. Two Questions (1) "permissions"--not familiar with what that is--how do I check that out, (2) tried connecting via bluetooth-no joy, but questionS is this: I have a add-in PCI card for a wireless LAN connection via a USB port (have a network cable set up when I plug in my laptop [my DSL modem has multiple ports and is actually a wireless modem simultaneously--what AT&T calls a '2wire modem'] but I just wanted to see how wireless network arrangements go [my laptop came with wireless]). So is a wireles/bluetooth setup ANY different (except for the checkoff box in PC suite) than cable, i. e., does wireless bypass cable connectivity software [bottom line: is my failure to connect via bluetooth telling me more re diagnosis]--YES, I suppose the DSL modem "duplicates" my wireless PCI USB connection, but I PRESUME (and really don't know) that is NOT the reason why I can't connect via bluetooth, i. e., no indication that creates ANY conflict on this PC (I don't leave the PCI wireless plugged in as I can't see where it serves any useful purpose-same results whether plugged in or out). Thanks again.
