Question Installed European maps onto memory card, but not showing in Nokia maps?

Right, where to start lol. This is all because I didn't want to risk any problems with Nokia's software, as im using Vista.

Yesterday, i spend a few hours downloading European maps for my N95-1

Instead of using Nokia Map Loader, i opted to use Nokiamaps.moo.no

Basically, this is an alternative to Nokia Map Loader

Well, I downloaded the maps, and installed them in the folders as stated in the guide. See link below for more details.

nokiamaps.moo.no

Click on Maps for Nokia maps 2.0 (the current standard version)

It will then direct you to the page with the instructions as see here..
Quote:
Instructions

Run Nokia Maps on your phone once before you add any maps or voices. This will create the required folder structure on your memory card.

Unzip the downloaded map files and drop them into the appropriate folders on your memory card.

On my Nokia the folder structure is cities with a subfolder called diskcache, filled with subfolders called 0 to 9 and a to f, and each of these folders have a series of subfolders 0 to 9 and a to f of their own.

Map files have the extension .cdt. Example:

[memory card]\cities\diskcache\6\d\filename.cdt

• On some Nokia phones (like the N95) maps are stored in:

\Private\20001f63\diskcache\6\d\filename.cdt
Well, i didn't have the "Private" folder, but do have the diskcache folder, so i dragged, and dropped the related numbered files into the appropriate folders, and that alone took ages.

Anyhow, now, once I finished installing all these into my memory card, i thought that I would be able to take a look around Europe, whilst being offline, ie, not connecting to the internet to download maps whilst viewing.

I moved across to the UK, and initially, I could see the UK, but as I zoomed in, the map turned into a blank screen.

So to experiment, I waited a while, in the hope it was a little slow, but nothing, so decided to check again using my homes WLAN connection, and sure enough, the maps started loading, as I could see file sizes to the lower right of the screen.

Now my question is, as you probably guess, is, why wont my installed maps show?

Anyone have any experience on this please?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.

Micky

Best off, taking the memory card out of the phone, and using the card adapter, then plug it into a card reader, connected to your computer, and make sure hidden folders is allowed!!!!

You will then see the PRIVATE FOLDER

How stupid am I

The maps and voices are free,it's the navigation that costs.

Mickey, I just re-downloaded the Europe maps after installing the official Nokia Maps v.2.0, they were only about 1375MB, you seem to have selected 1800MB ?

I downloaded a few other countries as well, where I have friends.

Download completed this morning, and I now can search offline, and find anywhere within the maps I have on my memory card. All is good.
