Nokia Maps 2 poll

Forgot to add a poll to the other thread, so here it is.

Do you think the subscription options are worth it?

Heres a reminder:

Drive and walk -

30 Day - £6.00
90 Day - £19.61
1 Year - £54.92

Its actually cheaper to buy Route66 V8 UK or Mcguider (sygic) Europe than it is a years subscription of Nokia maps.

I agree... too exy... considering there's much cheaper alternatives (or free if you know where to look)

I'm not sure of the exact specifics... but apparently the pricing isn't all set by Nokia... They just resell the license to use the product... That's why Navigation was removed from v1

I doubt it, since they own Navteq ;)

The tracking feature was taken out of V1 because people were using it as navigation, and not paying. It could also be argued that it was taken out for safety as with no voice it meant people had to look at the screen for directions.

AFAIK, owning Navteq (and therefore the map data) means they dont have to get any licences from anyone.

I think the high costs are to pay for Maps development - remember, its going to be integrated into OVI - and the cost of buying Navteq. Which wasnt cheap.

For me not too expensive because I have yet to see the need for 24/7 365 ability to navigate with voice. I only buy the 30 day license when travelling out of town, which isn't too often with the price of gas these days. Long as I can see where a location is on a map I'm good to go when in my hometown

Regardless of whether or not you need it, the fact that you can pay far less and get far more in another product makes it too much...

Thats the poiint..for me it would take about 8 years of purchasing the 30 day license to equal what it cost for an app like Garmin..not to mention the inconvenience of swapping the SD card
