right sorted otu my problem with lag

after comparing my 7mb of poi to peoples kbs of poi i decided to delete my poi folder , rebooted my phone , loaded garmin and it was as smooth as a babys bum lol

now i wonder what the maxium is before slow down , i defo need my speed cam files , just gonna have to cut down on the poi data i think

its weird because my 7mb poi file worked fine in the previous version but in v5 it cant handle the 7mb of poi data weird!!!

so if anyone else is having trouble with slow moving maps i would delete your poi folder and try it like that :-)

ill report back later with what i could fit in there before it started to lag/slow down

hope your all having a nice evening

my poi folder is now 2.2mb and its still acting like it was 7mb really slow and clunky

this has to be a bug dosent it?? how comes the previous version can handle over 7mb but the new one cant even handle just over 2 mb of poi data??

think iam going to go back to the other version 4.2 as i never had any probs with that one and this one is beginning to annoy me

I tried v5 in the evening and the routing was terrible, it wanted me to go over the sea or in the desert - just as the crow flies. I figured out it has a bug in routing preferences, came here to post and see its already posted (Thanks samisnake - you saved me alot of work). Everything else works fine. Will put it to bigger test on the weekend, and the long long weekend coming next week.

had my final try , got my poi folder down to 1.3mb (just speed cams for europe and uk from pocketgps)

still i get major slow down making the software useless to me so iam going back to v 4.20 which didnt have any slowdown with over 7mb of poi

ill probs await their next update and see if its been fixed as like this i cant use my own speedcam database and own poi which is a major drawback for me personally

shame people cant follow tomtoms poi its so simple to use you add as many as you want then select the ones you want to be displayed in the poi menu how simple is that , if their not displayed on the map they dont affect the program unlike this one , and because they are on the device you can allways select to drive to them via a menu ,

buxz777 i think its gonna be a case of whether the visual improvements of v5 justify the small bugs ie your poi problem and the routing preferences.
i can see garmin releasing a few updates after this one to fix these problems

I had the same problems at first, my route was a straigh line from point a to point b no matter where I try to route it.

I deleted the previous version and reload the new version and all is fine now. I think the key is to delete any previous version before installing new version.

i dont think the visual improovements are worth it at the mo mate to be honest v5 seems a bit buggy to me , iam installing v4.20 as we speak i wont be able to put faith in v5 at the moment ive literally spent the whole day messing about with poi loader and garmin and then testing , hopefully it wont be to long before they fix the little problems that stop this update from being as good as it should have been

it did work well with no custom poi loaded though and i do like this visual improovements iam kinda gutted to be honest as i was looking forwards to this for ages

dam

oh well

roll on the next update
