hi again... im not happy with the nokia gps app... a calculated trip i often do is 19.1km with nokia maps but when i enter the co ordinates into the nokia gps data app it tells me its 53km... how can that be??? when nokia maps is using residential roads and the gps data app isnt and does not recognise roads. its simply a to b...

so is there any freeware software i can use instead?

I would suggest that you are inputing the Long/Lat wrong. I just had a play with mine and after a few attempts I got a known trip of 21 miles from 56km to 26km which I think is fairly accurate straight line from here to there.

What exactly would you like to do? Do you want a simple coordinate conversion tool, popping up a dialog for you to fill-in?

If you have some programming skills, you could try to do this with Python for S60 ( Python for S60 - OpenSource ) and write the dialog yourself.
Example code is publicly available, I've used GPL code myself in Tracker.py, which you can find here:
http://tracker-py.googlecode.com/svn.../src/datums.py
See the "CalculateDistanceAndBearing" function.

Be aware that -37.735968 is the same as 37.735968S ... so why bother using a translation tool for that?

Regards,
Mark.
