Inaccurate Search feature in Maps
I have an N95 with firmware 11.0.026 and the Eastern Australia Maps (downloaded approx 3 weeks ago). I find that when I take a GPS reading, the Landmark is accurately shown on the map.
However, the address Search feature consistently pinpoints every address at least 100 metres from where it should be on the map. Am I alone in experiencing this problem? Any clues to its resolution would be appreciated. |

Its possible the maps software uses a technique known as geocoding. What this is, to save space, they do not store address points for each and every address. Rather, they store the starting and ending address numbers for the street, and simply interpolate based on what address u searched for.
ie) if abc street has houses from 1-100 (odd on one side, even on other side), and u search for house 60, itll plot you a point 60% up the street. |
