Map data not compatible ?
My N95 came with v.10 firmware, without a memory card and maps. Put in brand new 2GB Sandisk Ultra II and formatted it successfully.
I updated my firmware to v.12 and downloaded the maploader v.1.1. I used the Maps application on the phone and the required folders are created on my memory card. When I start Maploader it succesfully detects the phone, but then I get an error message saying something like "the map data on your device is not compatible with the map data available from Nokia Maploader". When I click OK I get the screen where I can select only from the various voice packages, but no maps at all. I can download any voice package successfully, so no probl;ems with data transfer, but cannot get any maps. Any suggestions ? |

I would simply back up your personal files from your memory card, and then reformat it again. It's possible that when maploader wrote to your card under v10, some of the info it wrote may no longer be compatible. When I upgraded to v12, I reformatted my memory card, got the new maploader and started again from scratch.
So after that, run the maps application once, with the memory card inserted. You then should be able to run maploader successfully.

I did all that a couple of times before posting on the forum and nothing changed. I just did it again, nothing different from before (same computer, cable, phone and memory card) and now the maps came up and I downloaded what I wanted successfully.
I guess I have to get used to a device behaving more like a computer than a phone. Many thanks for the help and advice. |

It worked for me. I think, that main thing is to start Maploader without SIM-card in your phone. Really, I'm shocked with Nokia attitude to their work... Not only because this situation - for example, Nokia N95 adapter, ad-43 (HS-45 with headphones) - it has non-chargeable battery within, so, every 2 month you have to go the Service Center to get new adapter or replace battery by yourself... |
