newb neeeds help with gps

just go the phone today and dont know how anything works on the N95.
never used a nokia before so im kinda lost. i was wondering how the n95 gps works is there stuff i need to download??(is so can someone give me a website)
i click on maps and wait for the gps to work when the 3 dots in the corner of the screen go green it starts to move to where i am on the world but wont zoom in. when i try to do it manually there is no picture?? Am i missing something or am i just not doing anything right?? Any pointers will be nice.

From your description, it appears you did get a gps-lock so it tracks your location as you move along. Once you have a GPS-lock, you would be able to track your position and plan your navigation. Which map are you using? Are you using Nokia Maps? There should be a zoom-in function.

hi

thx for the help guys.
im in canada. but i dont think i have the maps for it. When i zoom using nokia maps its blank..

is it because im missing the maps cuz if i am where do i download them and how?? (first time with a smart phone)

Connect your phone to the internet vie WiFi(Free) or GPRS/3G(Can be expensive) and maps will download automatically as you try to view each part of the world

OR

Pre-download maps to your phone from HERE

now i got another question. do i pay for this function or is it free.

The GPS application in itself is totally free to use BUT

-Navigation(Optional add-on): Costs extra
-GPRS/3G: When using these services within the application can cost(Contact your network provider for costs)

I advise pre-downloading the maps as this is cheap and you will not have long waiting periods for maps to download when using the GPS

hi

thanks for the information.

so currently i changed everything in methods to only have intergrated gps.
what is assisted gps and network based are these the ones i have to pay to use??

where could we download maps and how do we install them into the phone. im so newb with this phone if possible can i please have a step by step procedure.

Yes you will need Network access to use A-GPS and Network Based

Follow this link: Download Maps

It will provide step-by-step info on how to install maps onto your phone

I think extra costs only applies to voice navigation...no charges apply when you use navigation to plan your route and track your position.
