Question Does Network-based GPS cost money to use?

I know using Assisted GPS costs money, but what about network-based GPS?

If you're talking about stuff like google maps, then it would cost whatever your network charges you for your data plan. What network-based GPS are you talking about?

I have the 8gb and the menu access doesn't appear to be the same as you said. So my phone might be different. When I Enable the network 'when needed' it appears to use my data plan.

I assumed that used the cell info to get a rough location. The kind of thing used to offer you local services.

If so it doesn't use any data it's self but does to look up info about your location.

Is there any free GPS service?

It's up to your service provider how much they charge you, but nothing comes free.
