Tracking software - light

I need something that tracks and creates a route with a KML file. Much like sports tracker and viewranger.

However, Id like it to be extremely small. Reason being, I want it running while I have a satnav package going. The 6110 doesnt have much ram in this respect.

So any suggestions welcome.

GPSed?

GPSed is fully compatible with mobile devices equipped with the internal GPS receivers. GPSed is also compatible with mobiles that can connect to the external GPS receiver via Bluetooth and with any GPS receivers (like Garmin GPS, TomTom GPS and others) that can record tracks in GPX, PLT, KML and other formats.

That could be good.

But would a java app use less memory than say sports tracker?

Also, if I remember rightly, dont I just need one file, a Jar rather than a Jad?

It says to use it you have to sign up. Im hoping not, but I'll see.

Yup, you only need the .jar file.
But with the memory usage..i don't know..have not tested it yet.

Map My Tracks

Along the same lines, we have developed a Java tracking app that does what you're after.

You can download from Real-time GPS tracking for sports enthusiasts: Map My Tracks - there's a free plan that gives you up to 60mins of tracking per month - so you can download and see if it does what you're after. You can export tracks to KML and GPX as well as replay live on the site and embed on other sites.

cheers,
sw

That software isnt much good. For starters, it uses data, secondly, I can use a number of others which wont limit me to limited hours per month.

And I dont want to sign up for anything.

Luckily, Im making do with sports tracker. If I restart the phone, and shut down all apps apart from Garmin and sports tracker, I can get away with it.

Might try that GPSed though if the other satnavs use more ram.
