Just have one question.....how sturdy do you think the jack is in time...i mean notin' shall happen if you used once, twice.... but are u sure this method wont damage the 3.5mm jack using it over a longer period or time/often? I don't say it does....just a question....

The N95 doesn't weigh enough to have an adverse effect on the jack whilst its 'docked' on the tripod. It's no different to being foolish with a pair of headphones you have connected in the jack - if you were rough with your N95 when they were plugged in, you could cause damage to the jack.

It's kinda like saying 'If I punch a window really hard, will it break, and will I lacerate my hand and possibly bleed to death?"

The answer is of course a resounding "Yes", but you don't go round punching windows do you normally do you?

I hope we're clear on this.

EDIT: Apparently we're not clear - the point I'm trying to make is treat your N95 with the same respect as you'd treat a window, don't be rough with it or it might break on you. It could end up in tears. I've also removed the comment about the rocks.

Sorry, the guy in my office nearly broke the window and did himself a mischief just before I wrote this - he didn't try and punch it though.... It just got stuck on him and he ended up slamming it real hard. Maybe I'll come up with something better and edit my post later. Wouldn't want people thinking I'm a nut... Or a hooligan! Although, at least one of them is possibly true! ;-)

Guess I should read the threads more often!

I'm going to try this mod in the next week or two with a twist; I'm going to see if I can include some form of mount which will stop the n95 from being able to rotate on the axis of the jack...

I'll let you know how it goes.
