Volume down button

Hello,

Ive looked inside by taking the Plumb back plate off my N95 and have found out that the button has become desoldered (the button didn't click when pressed), I was wondering, I can solder quite well... would it be worth me fixing it? and if I do, do I only need to do the two pins near the front of the switch, why would a switch need 4 pins?!

Thanks

well the guys here warned me not to, and if there is a nokia care point near you, go there! Some carphone warehouse's have a specialist in store who will fix in in no less than a day. Highly recommended if you're still under warranty.

Do NOT try and solder this yourself !
It is a common problem on these and can be fixed very quickly at the NSC

Okay, will this be a while I wait job? I still have the button safe in a memory card holder, so If i take it down the nearest one, about 10 minutes away, they should just be able to put it back on no problem?

I cant see why not! I had to take mine to Carphone Warehouse and they had a specialist there. Like I've said before, check the nokia website to find the nearest in store specialist. Let us know how long it takes-you could even phone them beforehand.

It happened to me. Send or take it in to a nokia center to get repaired especially if it is under warranty. I sent mine in and received it back with total turnaround time of 1.5 to 2 weeks MAX. Hopefully they will re-solder it correctly and you will not have problem there after. I only say "hopefully" because there is the potential of negligent repair unfortunately,, been there done that. Good luck with it

here now

Your all lucky i had not readup so i sent it to barnstaple service center with a volume switch problem didnt dare open a 7 month old phone. Nearly 8 weeks i get it back by demand having been told that nokia would not repair the switch as the board was damaged on close inspection its fairly clear the service centre messed up their first attempt to fix a 95 none of them any good including orange.

Really annoying though they have kept or lost the switch so i cant even sort the fine solder myself anyone know or have a spare switch i could pay for please ????
