Phone start-up failed - please contact retailer

    ****!

Sorry for another thread but this problem is worse than other ones. I actually can't use the phone now...lol

Well, I changed product code and upgraded to V20. Everything seemed fine, got all my contacts back and then was in the middle of doing a restore when it got stuck on 69%. I waited about an hour and came back and it was still like that so I had to cancel. After that, it pompted on the phone to do a restart. Then the message came up: "Phone start-up failed - please contact retailer" Anyone ever encountered this problem? I guess with all the other stuff that's happened I'm gonna have to get it to a service centre. It's just annoying that this is a brand new phone and the warranty is void because I changed the product code (didn't have a chance to change it back). Unless this is a common problem with V20?..... Doubt it.

not really much i know about this, but as far as i understand, if your instalation of software screws up for some reason during instalation, and you disconnect it, it's possible that the phones older software was in the middle of getting replaced by a newer one, and it's in a state where it can't boot up.

kind of like half of it's software is missing. or as a lot of people call it "Bricked"

    in this case....

    this might help you....

word of warning though, theys a good chance this is the only option you have, but all your data stored on your phone will be lost.

Which carrier are you with? You could try doing a Hard Reset (info in FAO) or maybe do firmware upgrade again. I have read somewhere on this site you should not restore everything from back up, only contacts and essential files. I don't think i have dream't this!!Forgive me if i am wrong.Good luck.

Thank you so much! You guys have the answer to everything on here! I formated the phone using the Green * and 3 buttons. Still has my music etc.

Great stuff! Thanks again! And don't worry, I'll be back with another problem soon no doubt. Probably something stupid like how do I send a text message...

EDIT: David c: yes, I have been warned that which is why I was going to stay away from content copier but then I was also told that it was only N95s and not N95-8gb that had that problem. I guess I got confused and just wanted the easy way out!

Anyways, all sorted now. All my photos got deleted prior to this anyway, so it didn't matter that I did a hard reset. Got all my contacts and music and kept V20 firmware which is the main thing.

    Thanks again guys

Please help, I have an N95 8GB in the UK on Vodafone network, just got through changing my product code and then updating firmware to V20, everything seemed fine till I was restoring my backed up files from Content Copier when it flashed up that there had been a critical error and that I should start again, only now I am getting the old 'Phone Startup Failed, Please contact retailer' screen.
I have performed a hard reset '*3Call&Power' a couple of times now and am still getting the same screen,

    Please help!!!!!!!!!

Take it to a Nokia Service centre, nothing else you can do, no matter in how many threads you post.

Hi, do I have to hold *3 and green call key at the moment my nokia 6730 reports "Phone start-up failed - please contact retailer" ?

When I hold *3 and green call key, the phone just goes out of light.
