Question sim registration failed

Hi, I'v aquired my n95 from that auction site, it has been unbranded. My problem is that it gives a "sim registration failed error whichever net sim I install, is there a way to cure this?
originally locked to the O2 net. I have already got a basic knowlage of NSS using virtual usb and cannot get the additional nokia tool to communicate with the phone. not sure if this is the correct tool to use for my mission.
I'm not sure what info you need to help me on this as I'm pretty new to the bb5 as opposed to the earlier dct phones and will post whatever information is requested by more advanced uses of this forum.
Thanks in advance; Derv.

Ps the trader from who i purchased the phone is no longer a registered user of that e site.

you can type in *#0000# and let us know what it says but you may have been scammed. Usually this will mean they claimed it was lost or stolen to insurance, get a new one and then sell the old which is then banned from the network. Try a Sim card from a different service provider if you can

Firstly a debrand and an unlock are different. Your phone will still only take O2 sim cards. You cannot use NSS to unlock and BB5 calculators will not work. Take it to the market and cut your loses, or buy an O2 sim.

6500 Sim registration Failed

Hello all

I am afraid that I already know the answer, but the 6500 Classic Unlocked from vodafone Uk and BNIB from e-bay worked for about a month. Yesterday, I got the dreaded 'Sim Registration Failed'.

Is it blacklisted and why did it work brilliantly for one month. Secondly, any ideas on what I can do?

Here's hoping..................

Ives

Whoever sold you the phone got it as a "contract upgrade" and has now declared it lost or stolen in order to get a new one under insurance.

That's one of the reasons I decided to buy a SIM-free N82 direct from Nokia UK despite cheaper offers (on ebay) for "contract upgrades" on Orange or for "grey" imports (no UK warranty).

You can sell it to someone outside the UK, it will work there without any problems, especially that it is unlocked for any network.
