screen ribbon torn

hello all

my first post :P

right...on my way home tonight from work was talking on my phone an stupid me drops it (the phone that is), it hit the floor an fell to bits...after i got all the bits of phone back together it looks like its pretty intact except for the ribbon that goes from the screen into the chassis has been torn

is it possible to replace the ribbon or does it have to be the screen

the phone powers on but with no display :(

I believe the screen and ribbon are one piece. I also believe they are not terribly expensive nor are they impossible to put in. There's been several people on here that have done it themselves so you should be fine. do a quick search for screen replacement

not a problem, welcome to the forums and let us know how you get on with this one. Also if you could take some pictures of the process (not sure if we have any on here) that would be cool too

Original Nokia N95 Slide Module - buy online from Blue Unplugged

I think both of those are the same parts but give a good look to see just to be sure.

quick update guys, it was the torn ribbon cable so all is well

although my slide has now seemed to develop a slight wobble, i think this is down to the plastic inserts which run along side the slides?

the only tricky bit i found an where people have to be careful with is opening the catch for the ribbon on the screen apart from that its a well put together handset

Search for loose slider there is a great fix.
