Computer not recognising USB

S'goin on folks,

I was uploading some songs to my N95-1 using nokia browser when my phone dropped and reset itself. Now the computer won't recognise when I plug in my phone via usb. I'm running v30.0.0.15 and Windows XP.

wow. that's the spirit of troubleshooting =D

Press the "windows key + R" to bring up the Run box. then type devmgmt.msc to bring up device manager.

then connect your phone. on your phone, does it prompt you to Select mode?

now check under device manager, do you see Wireless Communication Devices?

that means the phone usb and PC usb ports are working.

try switching off your phone for while. in the mean time, uninstall any nokia related software from the PC and restart. then power on the phone, connect to PC after windows has loaded and logged in. does it detect a new hardware connected?
