BARCODE reader - Mine doesn't work!

The barcode reader. I can never get it to work. It seems so fun as well, I really want to use it, but all it does it spend ages focusing and then going into standby mode. can anyone help me here? Thanks

mine does the same in sunny australia, in and out of focus but never seems to capture the code

I got the same deal. Won't ever capture. Just refocusing.

Are you trying to read normal barcodes?

If so then it doesn't. It reads 3D barcodes.

Try this barcode generator and all will become clear.

Hi, there is another thread about the barcode reader under general 95....apparently, this barcode reader does not read the standard barcodes (black & white vertical lines) that we're familiar with but rather the DataMatrix type that consists of a grid of square cells. Yeah, it doesnt read conventional barcodes. Which makes it a bit useless lol

Actually I'm not reading the old style barcodes, I'm trying to scan the new barcodes- which are 2 dimensional, BTW.

The old ones were simply 1 dimension. A 3D barcode would look pretty neat, I'd imagine.

Hard to print off though, I'd guess. I don't think my 960C would do it...

hmm. Got my reader to read a normal linear barcode of a box of Blank DVD-R's. Took a bit of time. More luck that dugement. Tring to work out how I did it to repeat easily.

The DataMatix one read fast and easy.
