N95 locked up during firmware update... Can I reflash myself?

I bought my N95 off of ebay back in april from phonesource.com and today when I went to update the firmware it locked up. I have tried the reset sequence and to no luck all i get is the nokia logo. I called phonesource and they said they could send it off for me and it would take up to 6 weeks to get back. Anyone know of a way I can reflash the phone myself. The product code of my particular phone is 0549001 if thats of any help.

Thanks in advance

What method of resetting have you tried? The Green button and 3 (can't exactly remember the sequence on that) or the *#7370# code?

If the Green button, *, 3 isnt working for you, you only have one other option. Find an authorised Nokia Repairer, and get them to re-flash it with one of those gizmo's they hook up to your phone and force flash new firmware. They did this my old Nokia when it died in a similar situation.

They shouldnt charge you either, as your phone is under warranty. Takes less than 15 mins if you're lucky and there is no queue.

Where abouts are you from?

I am located in Dallas, TX USA so having a European phone reflashed locally is a problem.

There's no service center there? Isn't Nokia US based in Texas?

Where did you purchase it from? Did you buy it overseas, or a retailer here?

Paying to have it flashed isn't expensive... IF they're willing to do it of course. Perhaps if you explain the situation to them they may agree to flash it to a generic firmware?

If you can get the Nokia logo, then your phone should show on your PC as N95 installer (or something similar - I forget the exact device name shown).

NSU will then see this and *should* skip straight to the fw loading and recover the phone. to get the Nokia logo on an NSU 'bricked' handset is a good sign. getting a white only screen is bad!
