Can't restore backup from memory card
Hi
At last the updated firmware for O2 phones became available yesterday. Normally to update my phone I would update using PCSuite and the memory card backup option. Unfortunatley in my eager rush, I just updated using the memory card (duh), even though this should havebeen sufficent, I have ran into a problem. After the update, I choose to restore the backup I'd made, and oh oh!!!
The warnign to not use any other applications with the progrress bar pops up, but a few seconds later, it vanishes, and the phone seems to crash (the progress bar does not move). However, I leave it for a bit, and it resets, which would seem to suggest that something has happened, but no, nothing was restored. I tried again, this time leaving everything along when the warning and progress bar. The phone again eventually resets, and again nothing is restored!!!
I try to update again, in case the update was faulty, and after that is complete, the restore is again unsuccessful. As the backup.arc file seems to be Nokias own little format, there is no way of extracting it to try and manually restore at least my contacts. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get around this by preferably using the resotre function on the phone so everything is updated, or at least getting my contacts, and maybe my texts from it?
Anyway help would be greatly appreciated.

backup.arc file can be opened via Noki which is a Nokia backup file extractor and explorer.
Please also check the backup file recovery guide for details.

similar problem with 5800
I'm having a similar problem with my 5800, but the restore only fails when I select to restore the 'files' section.
I've been able to restore the contacts checking only it's section.
I don't know if the n95 has the same functionality to restore only parts from the backup.
