XpressMusic not recognising phonebook

hey, i bought this phone a month or two ago and it was working fine, until i updated teh phonebook from an old sim during the week by copying it over

now no matter what memory i use (phone, sim or both), some numbers it will not recognise when they ring/text me, even though they are in the phonebook!

what's worse is that when i try to find these numbers through the texts to send them a message, it still won't find them. so when they send me a text and all i can see is the number, i try to save the number and it tells me that the name already exists

what should i do?

This is a typical example of contacts duplicated both on the SIM and in the phone memory and is covered at length in the forum. Delete all contacts from your SIM card and you should be fine.

hi, i have just deleted 317 contacts from my sim card, and now all that remains are the 200 odd numbers that are on the phone.
i have changed teh memory to Phone

but i'm afraid i still have exactly the same issues. the texts in my phone still aren't recognised even though the numbers are in the phone book, and when i try to send a text to some people i can't insert their number even though they are in the phonebook

Restart the phone and try again.

i've just tried that and actually its gotten worse. it now only recognises a few of the texts (there are 200 odd) on the phone

when i try to add number to a text message, the same problem still applies

Back up your contacts with PC Suite, delete them from the phone memory and then restore them from the backup.

A hard reset will definitely sort you out, but I'm trying to spare you the hassle of restoring all your data and settings.

Send a message via MSN to vash_h
perhaps u could try opening your phonebook via pc suite.. and search for any duplicates..

or if ur good in excel, export it in csv, open using excel, do the 'text to column' thinggie and perform a v-lookup.. it'll tell u what number are duplicate..
