Use msn? Hate the adverts?

A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger & MSN Messenger

Check which version you have (help - about messenger) and download the correct patch.

The guy is heavily into Islam, but this doesnt manifest itself in the patch except for a bit at the end which just has some links. Doesnt affect msn at all.

As well as just getting rid of adverts, it does much more besides. Most notably, gets rid of that stupid restriction on sending Mp3s etc. This is all customisable, so use at your own risk (you can also allow .exe to be sent).

Result, you get an awesomely clean interface, rather than the nasty one it was before.

I had a new version of messenger wanting install this morning, and of course it brought all the ads back. So I found this patch and thought Id share.

be very wary of key loggers when it comes to anything to do with MSN that's not the official client...

The ads aren't that annoying... there's what... one add in the main messenger window and one line at the bottom of each convo box??

At least they don't pop up all over the place....

Have they done the sound ones at all? I remember they started doing them, which was what prompted me to get rid in the first place.

Ok, so Im using msn for free, ads are accepted. But with sound? Not on your nelly. Though I suspect that might have been stopped long ago, I just havent had any ads since.

I think that patch is pretty secure. I have been using the guys patches for years now, and had no problems. Its also one of the top results on google.

I'd look at spyware lurking around my PC if I were you, maybe it's because I'm in Aus, but I get maybe two obtrusive ads on msn a year (if that)??

The ads on sendspace, megaupload etc piss me off alot though.. especially when the download link they provide me with doesn't work..
